The long awaited replacement to IE8 looks like it is finally on the way, with better performance being the main bonus and support for HTML5 and CSS3 it promises to be Microsoft’s saviour in the browser wars. Or will it, its new minimalist look seems to be a direct copy of Google’s Chrome and even Opera, and the much touted ability to pin a site to the task bar will in my opinion not light up the lives of many Internet users.
Looks aside all many of you just require is a fast browser; and I thing Microsoft have pulled that off. Its not as fast as Opera put I think that will not be the case with the final product, as speed was a major factor in its design.
Overall I like the move in browsers away from cluttered toolbars and status bars, to a more clean look. So the new IE9 gets my vote there but speed in the beta at least is only fast when comparing it to IE8 not its competitors who are just as fast. Microsoft again playing catchup to its more innovative foes.
